If you had to buy a new console

Postby Old School » Fri Jan 31, 2014 5:12 am

Hi All,
If you had to buy a new console and recording rig today, (fire, flood, hurricane, wife or other act of God) what would you buy?

Have a blessed Day,
Mike W.

In the scheme of things, there isn't one... just chaos.

I think I would finally make the leap to Protools with the Slate Raven MTX.

That's pretty impressive, Crash. I still have an aversion to touch screens but I guess I could get over it.

Peter, the youtube videos are impressive. Check 'em out if you get a chance. I have an aversion to mixing with a mouse on tiny screens so this looks like something I could wrap my head around in terms of work flow.

The new virtual mic system by Slate has me intrigued as well but I am going to see how that shakes out when it hits the market.

Very nice!!! I just bought 2 Behringer X32s for the road and they are great boards. Also they can be used as control surface for DAW. You can also run live sound and send signals to DAW for mix down at a later time. For the money it was a no brainier lol.

On gcpro they sell the Stereo Version for about 16 000 and the surround version for about 17 500.

I think the Allen & heath console Peter mentioned has a bit of an "analoge feel" which I'd prefer. And I think after an 8 hour session the touch screen on the MTX looks like a total mess
But really impressive.
Worth giving it a try when my d8bs die. But I won't let them soon

Cheers
