Dead fader potentially solved

Postby Sid » Sat Mar 15, 2014 2:39 am

So I've had an issue where fader #2 is "sticking" - motor keeps trying to ram it down to inf. I scoped the board, and determined signal going up to drive portion was good.. Tested transistors and they tested OK, but I replaced the NPN's anyways. Finally today I got to testing the diodes, and sure enough one of the zeners tested out shorted. Too late for parts tonight :( but first thing tomorrow I'm off to get a replacement.

Here's hoping!

Sid.

Hey Sid;

Keep us posted please.

I have 3 d8b's and 2 of them have fader sticking issue that I would like to resolve.

I am having a great deal of difficulty solving this or anyone who can fix it so if it works I would be interested in what part you used and where to find in on the console!

Thanks
Bruce

Hi all

you can use as spare parts the yamaha 01V96 or DM 2000 spare motor fader. I did that. you have only to cut the pin for touch sensitivity. In europe you get them at the biggest music online stores.

or you open your fader and clean the slide contacts carefully. That can give you some more years on your old faders.

I cleaned my faders and one drop of oil did the trick...
