BIOS Settings Confirmation Request

Postby bitSync » Wed Mar 19, 2014 5:16 pm

When I look at my system BIOS for the d8b (Award BIOS v4.51PC), in the POWER MANAGEMENT SETUP screen two of the entries I am expecting to see are absent from the screen. They are -

  • Soft-Off by PWR-BTTN
  • PWR Lost Resume State

Could someone please take a look at the BIOS screen upon your next d8b bootup and let me know if these attributes are present on the POWER MANAGEMENT SETUP screen and if so, what the version of your BIOS is? Also, if you know why I'm not seeing these attributes if you could let me know. Mine is the 300A MHz Celeron in the newer motherboard. Thanks.

Hi Crash,

I've got the database perspective and the motherboard perspective on what the BIOS POWER MANAGEMENT SETUP should look like. I'm looking for an eyes-on report for what somebody's actual BIOS screen says. Is your report from your BIOS POWER MANAGEMENT SETUP screen on your d8b or is your reply a reference to the database? If this is from your actual BIOS screen would you mind advising what the version number is for your BIOS? Also, have you ever flashed/upgraded your BIOS or is this as it originally was when you got the board? Thanks!

There are two blank spaces on the rig I am looking at. Those look suspiciously like HDR settings which share the same BIOS as the 300mhz d8b rig.

Where do I look for version number? This is original to this console.

The Award BIOS announces its identity early in the boot phase, at the very top of the screen, I believe.

Once you're in the BIOS setup, the subject screen will be the POWER MANAGEMENT SETUP screen and the position of those two values, 'Soft-Off by PWR-BTTN' and 'PWR Lost Resume State' should be located directly below 'VGA Active Monitor' and directly above 'Resume on Ring' on that BIOS page. I see 2 blank lines where those values are supposed to be.

I'm working on a theory that those 2 values may not be available in the BIOS POWER MANAGEMENT SETUP screen unless the motherboard detects an ATX style PSU, and I believe that all the d8bs shipped with AT style PSUs.

That would be the Win95/Win98 Plug and Play extension to the the Award BIOS. The Award BIOS version is announced even sooner than the PnP extension version.

Yep. Thanks. Same version BIOS in my machine.

Do I understand correctly that you are missing the same 2 entries in your BIOS POWER MANAGEMENT SETUP screen (Soft-Off by PWR-BTTN and PWR Lost Resume State)? If so, I'll be trying an experiment later booting the system off of an ATX PSU and see if those options show up in the BIOS POWER MANAGEMENT SETUP screen. I really appreciate all your assistance, Crash. Best regards.

Yep, just two blank areas where you are referencing. The space is there, just blank.
