Bigger external Screen

Postby screenshotartworx » Tue Jul 08, 2014 4:39 pm

Hi Folks,

i was searching the Forum for a question i have. I recently seen Videos on youtube with people having d8b consples but they run it with a bigger and more modern screen than my 15" 1024x768px. I have seen that people seem to have screens in 16:9 and up to 22". How is that possible?

What do i have to do, to be able to connect a screen like that to my d8b? do i have to install another vga card? or do i have to change settings in the mixer?

Cheers
Mark

What ever you do, DO NOT screw with the video settings on the d8b.

I am not sure why it wouldn't display an image unless it was an issue with the monitor itself. I am runnning 17" monitors with no issue with my rig. We used to use a projector and drop down screen in the training studio of Mackie. Talk about a wall full of faders.

The video display, regardless of size, WILL work if you have an SVGA 15-pin DIN connector on the monitor utilized. You'll get a larger, 1024x768 scaled up image - won't be more real estate, just proportionally sized as that resolution is set in the software... that's EXACTLY the reason Crash posted that link... you won't have to strain your eyeballs needlessly. I've hooked mine up with my 32" flat screen TV (Vizio) and it looks fabulous - I generally use a 22" inch Dell until I get something larger that I can dedicate to the recording console. Again, the key point here is the computer interface connector (SVGA compatibility)... :ugeek:

Hi all,
You are exactly right guys, I have been using a 32" lcd television for both D8B and HDR for over 3 years now with no problems. If you have a problem, it's probably with the settings on your monitor and not the D8B.

And there you have it... actual hard data from an real life physical implementation over time... :geek:

Thanx Mike... respect...

Hi Fellas,

so what you are saying is, the image coming from the d8b is ALWAYS 1024x768 but when a bigger screen is connected it is only scaled up within the screen.

I finally found a screen in my house that worked. It is a 22" screen and it works fine. But since 1024x768 is a 4:3 image an modern screens are all 16:9 the image is stretched horizontally. Is there a way the de-strech it? i fear no...

so, you guys are all working with that strectched image, am i right?

cheers, and thanks for all your replies. you have been a big help!!!

Yes, that is correct... it will always be a 1024x768 resolution...

It's difficult to say without knowing the specifics of the display used... I'd look for an 'Auto-Size' option on the monitor... it's the only place you might be able to 'fix' this, in realistic terms...

However, you knew it was coming so here it is:
