Linked Faders problem

Postby Sifi » Fri Aug 29, 2014 7:18 pm

I have just hauled my D8B out of deep storage and apart from a few sticky Vpots amazingly nearly everything works. The one problem I have is that the first 8 faders appear to be linked and their motors don't function. So when I move fader One, all 8 on screen faders move in parallel although the physical ones don't. Before I start any surgery, I would like to ask if there is some facility to link multiple faders that I've forgotten about. As far as I can see they are not sub or virtual grouped in any way.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Hi,
Before you get involved in complicated solutions, try the simple. Un-check "reload last session at startup" , and delete the startup session, this will force it to create a new startup file. It may just be a corrupt session file. If this doesn't work, try reloading the OS. Good luck to you.

Thanks Mike, I'll give it a go although I've loaded a number of previous sessions all of which were fine back in the day.

This morning I've erased the startup file after unchecking "reload last session" but still no joy. I'm unable to find the original discs so I haven't been able to reload the OS.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
Sorry that didn't fix your problem. I can make you some floppies. Is it version 3 or 5.1 ? Just pay me for postage and the Disks. PM me with your address.

You are an excellent man. I have one place left to search for the floppies but i wont be able to get in to the storage facility 'till next week. I'm in the UK and if you are cool with that then I will certainly take you up on your offer if I come up empty handed.

OS 3 is available from the Mackie site. No charge.

Hi,
You're right of course Peter. But fresh floppies are increasingly hard to come by, (they're not manufactured anymore) and so If I see someone stressing over floppies I offer to help. Charging for the cost of the floppy and postage. Not trying to make money off the uninformed, just for the record.
