Site Ideas, Your Input/ideas Needed

Hello All.
In a bid to get more of a communal spirit going on the site as i think we, i could benefit even more from the experiences
of some of the older hands on the site, as i am sure there is a wealth of information between us all we could tap into.
i have sent Peter Sueco the following email (1) with some ideas i was thinking of,
would this be of intrest to other members ?
i always feel i could learn more from the guys using the same gear rather than going anywhere else
anyway, your thoughts greatly welcomed :?:

(1)
"Hi peter, in a bid to try and get more of a communal spirit going on the forum and maybe get more traffic looking in, i wanted to open two new posts
1 " show us your studio" so members can send in pics of there studio and also as a base for getting good recording tec, hints and tips to do with recording,

2" show us your songs" where we can download songs or links to songs for any crit or help needed, ( of which i really could do with :D ) also i could submit stem files for a maybe a mixing compitition ? (just to hear what others can do with the same information using the same gear)

i cant really put both of them in any of the forums/linages on at the moment as they are not applicable, so can we have another linage called some thing like " off topic" or " general Descussions" where we can do this ??

or even 2 headers 1 called "Theory and Recording Technique" which i could open both the above 1 and 2 topics.
and the another called something like "off topic" or "general Descussions"
Your thoughts ?
hope your well,
Cheers peter"

its all apart of a master plan to learn all your secrets crash
i have some tracks that i would not mind another critical ear on, what better place than here rather than another forum telling me to use this or that piece of equipment that costs the earth,
i dont like the gear snobs on other sites, loads of gear and advise they have read about but ask them for an example with one of their tracks and .... nothin....
at least on this site im with like minded guys/girls who know how to use the same gear as me to get the best out of it.
i just seems right.

I am just another bozo on the bus. I like gear that costs the earth and then some, but I also know that the weakest link in the chain is me. I know there are guys out there that can make twice the record with half the gear that I ever could.... but it gives me something to shoot for.

"the weakest link in the chain is me"
same for every one i think crash, ;)
I have found the more i record the more i learn and then the less i tend to use.
i dont use any compression if i can help it and very little FX
so i dont need much gear.

my main goto gear seems now to be all the same stuff i have found that gets the job done, in a way i like.
it collectivly creates my sound.
It takes time creating your own sound through trial and error untill you find something
you like, its fun getting there.... untill you learn something else new but then what i find is this......
can i use that in my sound.
its molding and refining all the time,
everyone is different hence me wanting to hear the differences in what people do with the same gear.
should be intresting.

Comon yall...got to be more people intrested in this

I'm down with this!

Addition topic section would make it easier and more efficient to find things.

It would also be a good place to reference other sources of Book, Video, Websites, blaa, blaa blaa.

Cheers & merry Christmas to al.

Bruce

Just to be clear. What do yo prefer a separate forum or a sicky topic in the d8bforum?

also we can sub category in there.?

I can open a separate forum with sub forums. Please just give me the headings/topics you prefer.

Anyone else with ideas?

Why not on the main board Index add one called "Recording/Techniques"
Then in that anyone can open what they think is needed,
for me
have some stickys..
1) "Show us your songs" which could be used for anything from advice wanted to or here is how i did it.
2) " Show us your studio" Or ??? where we could talk all things tec connected to the d8B advice and recomended gear
that works well with the D8B or HDR ??

Just throwing it out there.... Anyone ??
