Sounds a bit weird that windows can't read it.
Does your d8b boot correctly?
If so, are you able to establish an ftp link?

You can make install floppys from the images in the database. Then copy the hacked control file over to the correct floppy and file location on the floppy. And install like normal.

Sorry for the vague wording.

I made an image of my disk after installing 5.1
I don't remember if I made the image before or after using the hack, but you could try it out, and see if it works for you.
I made it with Macrium Reflect.

Here's a link for the image:

Great Big thanks to everyone involved in this, ( you know who you are :D )
Needed 5.1 as lost codes and mackie no longer support the d8b
so would of been useless.
And so the D8b lives and breaths new life into the future of our tracks.
you all have made this possable.
A massive thanks to yall, and the site for bringing us all together.
Thank you.

Hi guys,

Sorry for the newbie question but seems a small road block for me having come by a dusty old D8B in need of some tlc. She came loaded with Ver 3.1. Having some headache getting the floppy to read when trying an install of 5.1 from the links given in this thread. I have formatted three 2HD floopies (in windows 7) and run the Ver 5.1 self extracting files for disks 1, 2 and 3 so each disk has the relevant files loaded. When I start the CPU with the floppy inserted (disk 1 first) she boots straight to Ver 3.1 even though bios is set to read the floppy first. I have tested the floppy drive using the original 3.1 disks and it works fine, attempting to install. Seems something is wrong with the way I have prepared the 5.1 floppies. Any hints?
