V5.1 2nd floppy

Postby Old School » Sat Mar 12, 2016 7:13 pm

Hi All,
I'm trying to help someone who PM'd me for help with V5.1 floppies. The problem is, after I extract the files, when I try to burn them to floppy the 2nd disk file is 1.49MB and will not fit on the disk. What is up with this? I know one of you will have the answer. Thanks in advance.

Have a blessed day in Christ,
Mike W.

Sorry, I didn't read the post below yet and realize that the subject was already being discussed. My bad.

The diskettes are 3 1/2 High Density, so 1.44 MB (2.0 MB unformatted) is the actual marketed capacity. It's pretty much an implied limitation for reasons that if exceeded it could quite actually result in performance issues. WinImage (or whatever Mackie used originally) could quite possibly squeeze the .EXE to that size and it'll still copy to floppy disk for distribution... :ugeek:

You knew it was actually coming, so here it is:

I have just copied the 3 files to floppy with no problem at all.

Having said the above, my V3 Plugins old floppy's don't work anymore, I can copy disk 1 to a new floppy but not disk 2 as there's a "read" problem, I have also tried doing it with another formatted new lot, but for some reason copying doesn't work?
