The alesis hd24xr only has a clock input jack and a midi in and out
The D8B computer has one clock jack
The desk has two clock jacks
I havent got the mouse and keyboard connected yet
The talkback mic does come thru
Do i need to connect midi cables ?
The meters on the hd24 and the D8B are showing the tracks playing But no sound

Hi Eddie;

My suggestion is get the manual for the console and it shows in it, how to connect the d8b to various devices.

Once you get this connected, as the drawing show, then see what happens. You will need a Keyboard and Mouse to do a lot of the settings on the d8b, well at least in a quicker fashion.

If you don't have a manual, at the top of this Forum there is the word "DATABASE". This will take you to some very usefull info.

Hope this helps.

Best of luck and post back.

cheers
Bruce

Still no transport control or numerical display on the board
Is this what the midi cables would transmit or do i need an alesis BRC and approach it that way The D8b manual shows the mackie hd24 which has a clock out jack The alesis hd24 only has a click in and two midi jacks

Hi Eddie;

Good to hear you are making progress!

Yes the MIDI cables (there should be 2, 1 in, 1 out), should give you transport control and MTC (Midi Time Code). Refer to manual for proper connection. You will also need a BNC cable (RG-6 works) for Word Sync. Again the Manual shows the connections.

There are some menu setting to get this working properly and the BIOS should be as specified for the motherboard (166MHZ or 300MHz). These are found in the DATABASE in this Forum.

Cheers
Bruce

Well more excitement
My cpu has no midi jacks but in the same spot it has a 9 pin jack that looks just like the adat sync out jack on the rear of the alesis hd24xr So im wondering if they were connected, would the transport section on the console come to life
