ALTEC 436c

Postby Phil.c » Sat Oct 08, 2016 8:58 pm

Just bought a 50 year old Altec which has been upgraded to sound similar to a RS124, I have about ten different makes of compressors but nothing I have sounds like this ;)

Pics to follow!

What a great find, Phil. Here's a little history:

Thanks Frank,

There's also a lot about the Altecs in Recording the Beatles book which is a must ;)

I had two of those, but sold one to fund a GT CL1S comp. I am hanging onto my last one, it is unique. Ironically, these were rescue units on the verge of being thrown in the dumpster.

Hang on to it a few more years, original RS124's are selling for around £30k!
