Hi all

I ask this on this on the HDR forum. The apogee DIO-8 card board add 8 channels of adat or TDIF
i have three of these cards. can I use the adat in -out on these cards with the d8b and MDR the same
way you use the cheap adat cards

Thanks Joe Allen

Yep. I use those same cards and use the Adat lightpipe connections between my HDR and d8b.

Thanks Crash

I ask because someone told me you could not use the light pipe connection
with these cards. I told them what was the point of putting them on the card if you could not use them
Thanks again crash

You most certainly can use them, I do. The issue was that the polarity was flipped on either the ins or the outs, can't remember exactly which, for use with the old original black Adat machines. For some reason that really got some folks panties in a bunch. You might be careful if you are mixing and matching but I have never had an issue and I have done a lot of projects on this rig. You can do cool stull like TDIF in and then shoot out the Opt 8. I use that configuration with an old AD8000 when I track. So the signal goes mic>preamp>converter>Tdif out to HDR>HDR out via OPT>d8b...if any of that makes sense.
