then your floppy drive is defunct. New ones are out there.

In the scheme of things, there isn't one... just chaos.

floppy works. booting with a ms-dos 6 disk were succesfully, but fdisk is not recognizing the hard disk. Bios is recognizing it. but fdisk c: says no drive found.

Hey I made it to access the hard disc of the host computer. Its empty :-O
I tried to install the 3.0 OS now. It led me through the whole installation process of the 2 discs until the desks display said:
Remove your floppy and reboot...
Now I'm thrown back to start:
File Not Found
BOOT FAIL

What can I do now?

I have no clue anymore. I tried it all:
- deleted all partitions with fdisk leaving it raw, installed os 3, BOOT FAIL
- creating a new primary partition, format c:, installed os 3, BOOT FAIL
- found in another thread with same problem, that it worked for him with replacing the edo rams (took it out, placed it back):
- I did that as well, still BOOT FAIL

I took out the HD to check with another machine, HD has no errors and all needed files are on it, but still BOOT FAIL
I even changed the IDE cable, no success
What else can it be? I sadly have no ideas anymore.
Any suggestions? I'm thankful for every tip I can get.

YAAAAAAAAAY!!! Happy Camper here!!! :-D
This saved my life: http://www.sonido-7.com/d8b/files/d8b_f ... ocdure.pdf
LBA off and it was booting like a charm.
Now I go further with testing.
It works now with OS 3.0. I have no authorization codes. Does it make sense to update to 5.1 then?

This thread will give you an idea about installing and have OS v5.1 up and running. Read specially page 5.
