re-installing V3 on a V5 D8B

Postby countryjack » Fri Dec 09, 2016 9:42 pm

I've been offered a used D8B with V5 software. I like V3. Can I re-install V3 on it?

I can't believe you'd prefer V3 to V5. Anyway, carry on.

I fill the same way as Peter
As Peter said carry on. Yes you can re-install v3 you must see something the rest of us missed in v3
Good luck

I think I'll ask for my money back for the v5.1 codes :)

Countryjack:

Don't do it.

There is not one feature in 3.1 that is missing in 5.1. What you will get is approximately 250 bugs that were quashed in v5.1....pretty much all of them, as a matter of fact. With 5.1 you get an eq and dynamics section that actually does what the parameter numbers say (the dynamics in v3 are close to a joke). You also get a bunch of new features and a much nicer GUI.

If you are truly hellbent on installing v3, may I suggest installing it on a different hard drive, keeping the hard drive with v5.1 somewhere safe until you come to your senses...where it will only be a quick HD swap, rather than the insanely iffy floppy installation/authorization process.

I would listen to Frank. Just my humble opinion.

It's just that I have a lot of on-going mixes in V3 mode, and I assume all the eq and dynamics already set would be trashed...

Nope!

After installing v5.1 when you open a project the v3 files will be in a folder of their own, but for your peace of mine, copy them to floppy's.
