Hi,

I was contemplating re installing 5.1 on my d8b. I have the old floppies..God I hope they're still good.....but I'm worried about the reauthorization.
I checked my old pc drives and I have a file called D8bautorization.asp.
Is this all I need? I can't remember exactly how the procedure is.

With munks awesome crack, do I need to worry? I mean be concerened.

The board is working fine, except, out of the blue, midi in doesn't work. Its killing me cause I made that hui/MCU convertor in bomes, worked awesome, and I can't use it. Sniff....

Have you tried cleaning and reseating your midi card first?

Yes...cables..different port. Was now reinstall 5.1.... Then buy one of them cables from eBay..I can't solder^^ ...then buy the 9 pin card and hope it works w my old version d8b mb.

Wait..how to clean? Alcohol? Rubber eraser? It looked OK.

You motherboard battery have probably died and that has reverted the BIOS settings to default. When this happens all MIDI functions stop working.

Check the BIOS settings, most specifically the IRQ10 that has to be set to ISA. Don't forget to replace the battery.

I did check bios...it was set correctly. And its only midi in...out works fine. Weird no? But, you're right about the battery being old. Time hasn't worked for awhile.
Real tough to get at my CPU...but I'm gratefull it still works for me. And grate full for you and you're site. And the help full knowledgeable ppl in it. Thanks!

Ok..i found the email mackie sent last time i autorized 5.1. Is this all i need to reinstall? its called a Box ID. from 2008^^
The whole reason im reinstalling is because my midi in no longer works.
Have tried everything. Bios..new battery...different cables..different slot....even bought a serial 9 card, which doesnt fit....well thats another thread.
btw i have the old mb.
