DPMI Error Codes

Happy New Year everyone

Question: I just got this error for the 1st time. I had to hard boot my D8b twice before it went away. I assume this is some sort of memory issue?

Thanks

Philippe

yeah...first time for me !.

I think DPMI has to do with DOS Protected Mode Interface (DPMI) - some specification for memory handling:

"In computing, the DOS Protected Mode Interface (DPMI) is a specification introduced in 1989 which allows a DOS program to run in protected mode, giving access to many features of the new PC processors of the time not available in real mode."

I changed my DRIVE and rebuilt the OS ~ 4 years ago, but perhaps this is a "hint" of things to come :|

Hi

This error comes up when:

1. Changing refresh rate on your monitor in Mackie GUI.
2. Re-load or emptying UFX memory under a menu in Mackie GUI (I think under options or plugins menu).

If you experience this anyway without doing anything check your AGP graphic card or UFX / MFX cards.
You always have to hard reboot when it comes up.
There's an explanation for this somewhere else on this forum. This is a Mackie OS bug.

hmmm, I did select "auto-config" on my monitor last night for a real-estate issue. Are you saying this would trigger the issue? A software programmer colleague of mine also suggested the following:

"I think the disk is an issue and should be replaced sooner rather than later. I think reading in bad or corrupted date is causing the DPMI fault."

I will try and search the Forum for this bug.

Thanks

Screwing with the refresh rate is fraught with danger as pointed out. I have never witnessed the DPMI fault but then again, I have never screwed with the refresh rate.

Ok, but I did not play with the rate, only adjusted the screen size via "auto-reset". I will see how it plays out this weekend
