I see by an earlier post you were uncertain about the correct CMOS settings for what you term a type 2 CPU. The CMOS settings are different for the 166Mhz and 300Mhz motherboards. The DRAM refresh rates, boot drive sequence, and other items are set in CMOS, so that might explain the error message. Are you able to get to the setup screen during power up? I believe the settings for both versions of the MB are listed in the Forum database. I suggest you try this before replacing the BIOS chip or suspecting the hard drive.
