Hi Anders;
Finally had the chance to look at the CF in my d8b.

I checked all procedures you mention in your Document and all is as advertised regarding restoring an Image file using "AOMEI Backupper".

I restored to a 2 gb CF, installed in in the d8b, no luck, then restored to a 32gb CF, installed it in the d8b, still no luck.

In the d8b BIOS, as mentioned in the document, the HD is set to Auto.

Below, is what I see on the screen when booting. It does the usual RAM Check etc.

"Searching for Boot Record from floppy..Not Found
Searching for Boot Record from IDE0..Not Found
Drive not ready
Insert BOOT disckette in a:
Press any key when ready"

Below is what is listed on the CF, starting with Folders;

"Factory Presets",
"Patches",
"Plugins",
"Session5",
"system5",
"User Presets".

Now files and file size;

BTID,dum (34kb)
MackieOS.exe (2,068kb)
PME.sys (56kb)

If you need further info let me know.

Thanks for any help.

Cheers
Bruce

I have come to the conclusion that there is something larger amiss with my spare CPU. It is not recognising any hard drives, even the one from a working d8b CPU.

This may be why it is not recognising the CF.

O'Boy.....More to figure out!

Cheers

Can you take screenshots of your all your bios settings?
Also a shot of the ide-cf adapter?
If you wish, you can send it to my email address.

Anders

Hey Anders;

I will send you my BIOS setting, all of them and a shot of the CF adaptor. It is a Star Tech.

It will take a day to do this!

maybe the size of the image (source) should match the size of the destination?

Has the boot flag for the drive(s) been thrown? If it's not set, it'll never load the MackieOS.exe (executable) - look for something like this in your configuration tool. This example is using 'fdisk' at the command line :

That asterisk is indicating that partition 'sda1' is bootable per the flag being set, and there would be something similar for whatever tool is being used to setup the disk or cf card - regardless of the operating system being used. If nothing boots when this condition is met then, yeah, there's a somewhat of a serious issue to be addressed... that's the very 1st thing the BIOS does when loading up the POC test when the 'on' button is pressed on the front panel of the CPU host... :ugeek:

As always tho - you knew it was coming, so here it is:
