I just found this. We were debating making this the next big thing in October 1999....and then everything went south. I may have posted this or something like this before. I just thought some of you would get a laugh out of it.

I find it amusing that presonus jas taken a lot from the d8b and put it into the studio live platform. Fat channel comes to mind.

Most likely because the late Bob Tudor was director of technology for Presonus during the development stage of a lot of their current product lines. Bob wrote the software for the D8B when he was the head of the digital department at Mackie. When I first showed Bob my initial concept drawings for the organization of a single channel view for the D8Bs GUI, he said: "Wow, that's fat lookin'...it's a fat channel". That's how it got its name.

the next generation, if only mackie kept it going.
could of been by now
a 16 bus, 6 card 48 in/out, with usb and probox and wifi, compleate with a 48 chan HDR ........perfect

Besides the features suggested in the mockup, two things that were being considered were a dedicated DAC for inserts on the 2 Mix bus and a UFX-like card that had 4 stereo audio returns for external gear. It was to remain an 8 bus unit.
