DIO8 Cards

Postby lyn69 » Tue Dec 05, 2017 3:31 pm

Hi All, Been using my D8B now for over a year and have had very little trouble with the desk and have really enjoyed the flexibility it affords me in the studio. I have recently been reading that the DIO8 cards should have version 2 or above for 24 bit operation... is this true and does it make a difference to the sound quality? I have checked my DIO8 cards and they have the version 1 eprom on the board. If there is a difference in sound quality, where can I purchase an up to date DIO8 card, or the eproms from? Thank you all.

I doubt you are going to find V2 eproms this late in the life of a d8b. I would think your best bet wuld be to buy more DIO8 cards with the 24bit eprom. As I recall, the version 1 were 16 bit. Lots of good records were made 44.1/16bit...

Hi Crash. I will look out on Ebay as I have seen them going second hand. Although I think the desk sounds great, was just wondering will there be a noticeable sonique difference with the new cards? Cheers.

The sonic difference is in the ear of the beholder.

Opt 8 cards are the easiest and best. DIO 8s have a few issues but some find them Ok.
