I really dig how much info. is on this forum. I recently got a D8B I'm coming from a hybrid analog/digital set up. My last mixer started to hv too many issues so after a lot of research I made the switch. I'm going to have questions for sure, but for now just a few. I bought the d8b with a issue. So here are my first 4 questions.
1.How to fix DSP control card not ready error message.
2.I use a lot of outboard gear, are the aux sends send and return?
3. How much is a Probox?
4. How would I use an outboard piece on my master channel?
Thanks

I just bought a D8B last week and I had the DSP control card issue as well as system error 43.

Since the unit didn't come with the parallel 25 pin cable I was unaware that it needed to be connected in order to boot, it does.

Found and old cable, hooked it up to the PSU and it passed the DSP issue without problems.

I also reset CMOS on the motherboard and replaced the CMOS battery to clear system error 43.

$25 in parts and 1 hour in labor and the board works perfectly.

Good luck fellow newbie :)

Thanks I will definitely try that. I'll let U know. How are you liking your D8B? What kind of interface and DAW are U using if any. Thanks

I moved the 25 pin cord around and I got communication between the software and the mixer except I have a blank screen on the mixer when I adjust eq/comp/ gate. Maybe try to replace the 25 pin cord completely.

Check your bios settings, and also give it that new battery.
That might fix it

Look up in the database for those BIOS settings. Don't go with "Default" as that won't fly. The database is way full of helpful info.

As for number 2 on your list, I use a boatload of outboard as well. The auxes will feed the internal F/X via the MFX/UFX cards, depending on what you have, and the 1/4 jacks at the same time. I bring the returns of my whiz bang boxes back on the Mic/line bank of faders.

I feed my dynamics boxes via the bus outs and return those via the ALT I/O slot equipped with an AIO.8 card.

As for doing master bus stuff (#4), I mix digital out of the console into an Apogee converter to go analog, hit an A-designs Nail, Pultec, Clariphonic, back to digital into a L2, into my master 2 track deck and return to digital 1 on the console. This allows me to hear pre and post 2 bus processing with the a button hit. Hopefully that makes sense.

The card error was solved by moving the 25 pin cord around. I repeated the process so for sure that solves the error. I don't hv the fat channel display on the D8B. I'm going to replace the 25 pin cord completely to see if that solves the VFD display issue. If not I will replace the battery. The BIOS settings are normal.
