Error: DSP Card Not Ready -- ???

Postby Tarantula » Thu Jan 27, 2011 3:45 am

Hey Fellas-
Just pulled the old d8b out of storage a couple days ago.
Replaced MB battery; reset BIOS (for the 166) and everything seemed fine except I was still running v2. I downloaded v3 and installed without issue.
Today I set to installing SP2. When I shutdown to reboot from the floppy the console is frozen.
Symptoms:
-Channel Meter 12 blinking while fader motor 12 clicks.
-If I let it boot up completely, I have error message on screen. Error: DSP Card Not Ready. Last Known.
Status: Reset
I pulled out all 4 MFX cards, both I/O cards, and Apogee Clock Card and reinserted. Everything fired up long enough to install the Service Pack 2. Upon reboot, same problem. I've pulled all the MFX cards out and got it booted up one last time. Now I've had all cards out half a dozen times. Tried inserting MFX cards in different order all to no avail.

It's been so long since I've messed with this board, I can't even remember if I ever ran into this problem before.
Would you guys have any ideas?

Thank you,
And good work launching this new forum, BTW. The old forum has become a little diffuse.

Welcome to the forum.

As quick fix try to re-seat the Big Frigging Connector. Sometimes it gets loose and you have to twist it very hard to get a nice connection.

That connector is a strange one, i've had to reconnect it many many times to get everything working, I don't think it's the connections themselves that cause the problem, it's probably something to do with breaking and then reconnecting the circuit.
