No sound?

Discussion board for Mackie's d8b Digital Console users.

No sound?

Postby Mistahand » Sat Nov 19, 2011 9:12 pm

I finally hooked up my d8b to my HDR. I believe they are communicating ebecause I loaded a song on my HDR and when I hit the play on the d8b it starts playing on my HDR.

Only thing is the board isn't getting the audio signals . I have light cables hooking between the two but nothing.

What am I missing????

A lot of things may be happening.

Do you get sound from the board using any other source?

You are missing a way to clock between the two. An apogee clock card is in your future.

The d8b came with an internal... And my HDR has an apogee card in it, just don't know where to hook it up to.

Please take a look at some info I have left in your other "Word clock" thread Mistahand.

I was talking to someone last night, and he thought it may be that the DIO-8 cards in my d8b are not configured to optical and thus not allowing the audio siginal from the HDR to be played through the d8b.

Is this true??

How do you configure the DIO-8 card? I have looked throughout the manual and cant find anything.

Please advise

Go to "setup" at the bottom of the GUI, then to "Digital I/O" tab. You can select between the TDIF and OPT settings there. Page 67 of the manual FYI...at least that is the page of the version of the manual in front of me at the moment.

I think you are out of luck though until you get some way to clock these two devices... an Apogee clock card for your d8b. This is not to be confused with the DIO.8 labled Apogee. They are not the same animal and has caused confusion in the past with some users. Your statement that your HDR has an Apogge card in it has me believing that you are not quite clear on this and may be looking at a DIO.8 with Apogee silk screened on it.

Make a bid on the Apogee clock card that I saw on ebay the item number is on another thread.

I remember spending nearly a day trying to get the standard card to work, it did sort of but it also caused the sample rate to change on the HDR for some reason and things lock up too.
