D8b with HDR no transport position synced on D8B

I think I may have a midi problem as I have connected a HDR to my D8B running 5.1. The HDR is connected via optical cables also im using the Apogee world clock for sync with the D8B as the master. I can control the HDR play record etc and arm tracks from the D8B, but I get no transport progress showing on the D8B. The HDR is set to send and receive MTC. Does anyone have any ideas.

I assume you have both MIDI in and MIDI out connected. Check to see that HUI mode is disabled on the d8b.

Yes I have midi in and out connected correctly and HUi is off , seems like im only sending midi from the D8B because if I arm tracks or use transport controls on the HDR it isn't reflected back onto the D8B. I have checked my original midi cable is wired ok so maybe its the wiring on the one supplied with the HDR which is pre-moulded so looks to be a genuine mackie one which I think there were some issues with !

Ok I have checked the midi in and out on a cable tester and the HDR is sending Midi data as is the D8B so it must be down to the D8B not receiving it. Does anyone know what the midi port assignments should be for the D8B and HDR as at the moment both are set to port 0 on all banks

My immediate thought is that the MIDI breakout cable(s) is/are dodgy. There are some that have been sold on ebay that are incorrectly wired. Check here to make sure your breakout cables are correctly wired.

Thx for the info im going to make up the 9pin to 9pin cable to test this out as it definitely seems like one of the breakout cables is not working.
