Hardware 'hack' is WAY too Draconian... IMHO

I would think the preferred method would be to modify the firmware as Ralph has done. It's EASILY returned to the Mackie OEM spec by swapping a single file on the boot drive in the CPU's file system - very non-invasive 'workaround'... :ugeek:

However, you knew it was coming, so here it is :

Hi Guys, sorry for my late reply.

@Peter, thanks for repairing my link.

@all, yes the hack works, it clones an unlocked d8b. In the download, there are two Versions, please use the first one "Hack1", the second one doesn't work.

best regards
Ralph

Hi Chris.

No the Hack doesn't unlock the Plug-ins, but send me a PM with your email and I will send you the unlock codes.

They may be here in this thread or another. Not sure where I got it from. :geek:

Cheers
Bruce

Hi Guys! It's RD again. Had to take a break from this and now that I come back and I find we do have a software hack! Is that what I am reading? To my understanding is just download the file that Peter posted and use that as an install disk. Is that it? What did Bruce find out to make the plugins work? I do need help! I just do not want to wreck a perfectly 3.0 full running d8b. However I now have Pro Tools and Avid says without the HUI I am SOL with the d8b.

This all sounds like great news but I want to be sure how to use this hack. Please advise!

Thank you all for putting the most amazing effort I have ever seen on any forum!
