Bruce, I know nothing about SSD's how are the hitched up?

I don't know if you have had the same problem with d8b floppy backups but some of mine crash the cpu, it might be something with having too many files on them?

There are a couple of topics in the HDR/MDR/SDR forum up and running regarding SSD's and how they work and how to do the install. Start there and if you have any other questions we can chip in and help you out. Search for "SSD" or "Solid Sate Drives" to find the thread. (No sense repeated what is already posted).

As far as the floppies go, I have not had any issue with my floppies or files. Perhaps you have more data than I do so, as you mentioned, so maybe that is why your computer crashes.

I will have a look at the actual size of the files I save to floppy and see what I come up with.

To help solve the mystery , does you computer or d8b CPU give you a message when it crashes or are there any other indications that there is a problem?

If your file sizes are large (greater than 1.4 MB), then the FTP is the way to go. There is no restriction on file size there. I have transferred GB's of info with no issues.

My floppies are quite full, I think that when a certain limit is reached that's when the crash accures, there's no message just a freeze.

To help with the problem solving....

How many sessions are you saving? One song? or an entire album?

What size of floppies? 750KB or 1.44 MB?

I'll have a look at ny stuff and get back to you ASAP.

To be honest, I haven't saved anything for a long time....not the thing to do but soon to be corrected!

I have albums saved on one disk 1.44mb, probably too much.

Haven't check yet but you may have found your answer!

I usually save one song to floppy, then transfer! But I still want to see if my beast crashes as you discovered.

The best way is still the FTP.

Hi Bruce,

Some time ago I bought an adapter cable. a HD connector on one end and a USconnected other, I connected one end to the HD and the USB to my Mac, I transferred files that way, the only problem is that the HD has to be outside the caddy because the connector is too big, by doing this, the power supply has to be taken from the caddy and connected to the HD, it works ok but is a bit of a pain.

Hi Phil;

The FTP is the way to go. You can transfer all your session files as if the d8b or HDR is another Hard Drive of you computer.
