Hey all;

Do any of you have any knowledge regarding interfacing other manufacturers Multi-track remote's to a HDR? I have a Tascam remote that can control up to 6 machines (Tascam DA88's). This is 48 channels of remote capability.

Before I send it off to the recycle bin or try to give it away, I thought I'd see if it is possible to use it with a HDR.

I have looked through the HDR Tech Manual and couldn't find what standard (protocol) the HDR is for remote control interface. So I come to you good folks.

I have a Tascam remote (Model RC-848) which has, as Multi Pin connectors......

- a 15 pin D connector, Male , labelled "Remote Out (to DA88)" This is not the DB15 used in VGA. This is a larger 2 row D connector.
- a 9 pin D connector, Female, labelled "RS-422" standard (Sony)
- a 15 pin D Connector, Female (same as above) labelled "Ext 2 (accessory 2)"
- a 25 pin D connector, Female. labelled "Ext 1 (Accessory 1)"

Thanks for any guidance.

Cheers
Bruce

If you have a Serial 9 pin for your HDR, you can probably use your remote. If you don't have one, you can get it at Thomann for 10€.

"The Serial-9 card replaces the MIDI I/O card and adds an RS-422 interface with the Sony P-2 (commonly called “Sony 9-pin”) machine control protocol. This is the industry standard for controlling multiple machines in a video editing environment. Sony 9-pin protocol is defined for both the Device mode (responds to incoming commands) and Controller mode (sends commands)." - Mike Rivers, The Last Mackie HDR Manual.

Hi Rob;

Thanks for this. I will investigate and see if this will work for me.

I tried to locate this Mackie Serial 9 Card on ebay but no luck.

Thanks for the response.
