Posted: Thu Nov 14, 2013 1:51 pmAlso, if you're using a USB-to-serial converter instead of a serial port, make sure it is guaranteed by the manufacturer to be compatible with Win 8.1. I recall having some initial COM problems with Win 7 because the OS didn't recognize the converter. I replaced my original USB-to-serial converter with the one in my signature block and my COM problem went away.

I installed that 3 times, no luck. Same with deleting the config file. That didn't work
