HUI Development just started!

Postby Marc Girard » Tue Dec 20, 2011 10:32 am

Hello all,

Yes, I just started today, coding the infrastructure for the HUI support in D8Bridge. So far I don't have much to show but it's looking good. We don't have any time frame for the release yet as we're too early to say... HUI support will be the big feature in D8Bridge v1.1.

Of course, it will be a free update for all of you who bought D8Bridge.

Marc, I'm sure you have probably already seen this or something like it, but I came across this while doing some HUI research.

This is probably more of the same.....but I'll throw it in anyway.

I fail to see why Mackie has to be so tight lipped with the HUI protocol. Seems everyone has the same issue. Mackie does not want to play ball and let anyone see it. How typically Mackie...sigh

http://www.ssei-online.de/HUI.pdf Try that....THAT seems to be more focused on HUI. (MACKIE HUI (firmware version
1.45) Actually browsing through it, that may be a pretty good tidbit on it. Looks like the guy put a lot of time into sniffing the MIDI info pretty well.

I also found this in the Tascam FW1884 manual. Here it references HUI emulation notes for the device to support HUI. I thought it might also provide some insight. I hope it helps! :)

Doesn't the d8b already do HUI?

But if it could implement the ProControl protocol, THAT would be something worth buying!

HUI on the D8B is only 8 channel for now. D8Bridge will do 24 channels of HUI (3 units emulated instead of just one). You will be able to control your Pro Tools like a Pro Control.

Hi Marc can i start out by saying a huge Thankyou for doing this ..your a true saviour ..i have a a very much loved and cherrished d8b currently working great with protools 10le with a rme raydat in a power mac ... i have been reading the forums and the only down side i can see is losing the audio inputs and outs and also losing the optical ins and outs ...its a shame there isnt a y cable to connect all 3 together and perhaps run the daw controller from the mac then possibly a simple switch to then use the desk as it came in the box so to speak ... altho if you manage to solve the whole package in one box that would be even better ....i cant wait to see how you progress but i think if its to suceed it needs audio in/out and optical fiber in/out well for me anyway otherwise its ganna mean shelling out alot of cash on other gear thanks again tho and please keep up the awesome work

p.s you might wanna add a donate button so we can all help progress
