MIDI Yoke / Win 7 x64 / Sonar 8.5.3 x64 Setup

Postby bitSync » Tue Aug 14, 2012 4:12 am

I'm running Windows 7 x64 and 64 bit Sonar Producer 8.5.3. First things first, I installed MIDI Yoke (myokent.dll v1.75.53 39.0 KB dated 9/23/2007).

I must be missing a step somewhere, but I don't see the MIDI Yoke I/O ports in Sonar's MIDI Devices dialog box. Marc's installation guide says MIDI Yoke installs 8 virtual ports by default. Is there something I need to do to get Sonar to see the MIDI ports installed by MIDI Yoke. Thanks for any assistance!

Hello BitSync,

All 64bit DAWs requires the use of LoopMIDI instead of MidiYoke. MidiYoke is 32bit only.

Hi Marc,

I read that warning in your Quick and Dirty installation instructions, but then in the forum here I thought I saw you more recently advising the use of MIDI Yoke on Win7 x64 systems. I was conflicted about which way to go, but it looked like your advice to use MIDI Yoke on Win7 x64 was newer than the install instructions.

This post to Livefromheaven seems to recommend Win7 x64 + MIDI Yoke, contradicting the Quick and Dirty installation instructions. Maybe I'm misunderstanding?

I don't want to fight Win7 x64 and x32 MIDI Yoke so I'll probably just uninstall MIDI Yoke and go with LoopMIDI as you recommend. Thanks.

Just uninstalled MIDI Yoke and installed loopMIDI. Added my loopback MIDI ports, opened Sonar and there they were. Sweet. On to the good stuff...
